The Three Pleasant Mounts is set around the three hills of Mt Pleasant, Little Mt Crawford and Mt Crawford. This is classic SA Forestry land, with the rogaine set completely within the forest boundary of Mt Crawford Forest. Be prepared for some flat land dotted with swampy spots if June is wet, horse trails meandering through the forest and three lovely, bushland peaks.
Pine forests have simple navigation. It’s very similar to reading a street map, so if the ‘city’ rogainers want to try a bit longer, non-street event, this is the one for you! There is no tricky navigation – this would be a wonderful rogaine to stretch your skills a bit in a bush setting, or for novices having a go. There are plenty of controls close to the Hash House (start/finish/Admin area), just perfect for families with smaller children.
This is a trail runner’s dream event, though be careful not to bite off more than you can chew! The challenge will be in the route planning and deciding which peak/s you want to enjoy the view from. With a central Hash House, teams will have the choice of multiple directions to explore. North, south, east, west, fast, slow or steady, the choice is yours. Come and have fun on the Pleasant Mounts and enjoy some hot soup and bread rolls afterwards.
