The South Australian Rogaining Association is holding its annual 24-hour Rogaine event near the site of the 2004 Australian Championship held on the historic Holowiliena Station. This event will also cover part of the Worumba Station (used in the 2015 State Championships) and the Black Hill Range which will provide a diverse range of Rogaining terrain.

This event could be used as a serious workout for teams heading to the 2018 National Championships being held in late August, or as part of a friendly, family orientated “bush” camping holiday exploring some of the spectacular Flinders Ranges which is not accessible by regular tourists.

The event is being set by, Evelyn Colwell and team (Simon Ellis-Steinborner Craig Colwell, Trevor and Erica Diment). The Map will be 1:40,000 scale printed on A3 waterproof Teslin. We will be using the ‘Navlight’ electronic recording system for this event. In conjunction with the “classic” 24-hour event, there will be “Roving” 12-hour independent event for those who need additional time to get to and from the event.

For teams who have never competed in a 24-hour event before there is a chance to win a prize pack valued at more than $400.00 if you are the winning “24-hour novice”. Prize pack includes for your team; Silva compasses from Orienteering Services of Australia and neck tubes from IO Merino.

Also, the usual spot prizes from IO Merino PLUS  two “Ostealign” therapy sessions from Margrit Leuenberger at MnM Remedial Therapy.

The event site is approximately five hours from Gepps Cross, with the last 50kms on a well-managed unsealed road, suitable for two-wheeled drive vehicles.

The event hash house will be a complete bush site, accessible via a farm track. Catering will be the standard SARA bush tucker for the Saturday evening meal, Sunday breakfast and Sunday presentation lunch. Bush camping available at the HH from Friday afternoon to Monday morning.

Accommodation is available at Hawker, which is approximately one hour drive away from the Hash House, including the Outback Chapmanton Motel and self-contained Holiday units which is run by one of the event landowners.

The 24 hour component of this event is the State Championships.
