Roving rogaines are hard to beat. Head out in the afternoon, return for dinner and a campfire chat, enjoy a good night’s sleep, then set off again the next morning to collect those final daylight controls.

Don’t miss:

  • The countryside at its best after the finest season in living memory, with the Flinders looking wonderfully green
  • The original 1855 ruined sheep station homestead
  • Magnificent creeks lined with red gums
  • Sweeping views across the Flinders Ranges.

Night navigation is minimal – unless you get misplaced or underestimate your loop, in which case you may enjoy a few extra hours after dark… Choose either 8 or 15 hours, within a 24-hour period, roving through this beautiful area.

Come and go as you please, provided you stay within your allotted time. Explore the Southern Flinders Ranges, wander along broad redgum watercourses, take in spectacular views from the high points or run over rolling hills. However you choose to travel, you’ll breathe in fresh country air and enjoy the experience.

Free bush camping is available at the Hash House beside a beautiful creek shaded by huge river red gums, close to historic ruins. If camping isn’t for you, alternative accommodation is available at the nearby Carrieton Caravan Park, or a little further away in Orroroo and Jamestown. The area is about a 3 1/2-hour drive from the Adelaide GPO.
