The 2026 Velogaine will be held in the Eastern Mt Lofty Ranges around the Marne River valley headwaters. Most of the course will be gravel roads, fire tracks and rideable cross-country paths. Depending on route planning choices you may be riding on rural bitumen roads without shoulders, but with generally light traffic. There will be some hills that make you work harder than just rolling along but climbing is limited to not more than approximately 50 m elevation on any single slope. The use of a gravel bike or MTB is recommended however a road bike with wider tyres (28 mm +) would be possible noting that there is one track that is quite sandy that may need to be avoided. There is a separate section for teams containing at least one e-bike. (Compliant with EN 15194).
As usual for velogaines there will be a light refreshment included afterwards, with cordial and soft drinks.
Helmets are compulsory. Don’t forget to check that you put them in the car before leaving home, along with your bike shoes and front wheel.
