The 2025 Velogaine will be held in the historic mining town of Callington less than an hour’s drive from the Adelaide CBD. Exit at the Callington turnoff and proceed north, then into the old town on your left via the historic bridge over the Bremer River (Bridge St!).
The hash house will be at the Callington Oval, a nicely irrigated soft green grass surface for the mass start at 10:00 hr. There is plenty of carparking around the oval and there are proper flushing toilets on site! Snacks and drinks are available at the Callington General Store at the south end of Baker St if you are early. There will be a group of family friendly controls close to Callington extending to its twin town of Kanmantoo about 5 km away. For the competitive riders the map is 1:50,000 with 10 m contours and covers a bit over 150 square kilometres.  The terrain is moderate with one escarpment of about 100 metres elevation running through the map. Roads are mostly gravel farm roads, with some bitumen roads and two more trafficked connecting routes. There are some single tracks, and some of that is quite sandy.  The setting team is taking you to all the major points of interest in the area.
Gravel bikes or mountain bikes will give you the widest possible course route selection. However, choosing a fast road bike with 28 mm tyres might make up for having to miss a few of the technical sections. There will be a single category for all e-bikes.
After the event a light meal and drink will be provided by the local community progress association whilst you wait for the results. There are numerous heritage markers to help you discover a town bypassed 40 years ago before it got spoilt by subdivision and development. It’s bigger with more character than you probably imagine.
We strongly suggest you do a final check to make sure you have your helmet, bike shoes and gloves before leaving home!
