In townships glimmering with history and heritage, A Glimpse of Gawler will give you just that!
Ramble (or run!) your way along the serpentine riverways, wonder as you wander at the tremendous, towering gumtrees and still amongst the buildings and streetscapes steeped with stories.
With many current and retired railway lines bisecting the expanding suburbs, did you know that the central trainline used to run up Gawler’s main street?  Local blacksmith and businessman James Martin operated the first Gawler foundry, contributing to the construction of the Gawler railway line which connected the township with Adelaide in 1857, seeing Gawler become one of the most important industrial centres in the 19th century!  Look out for glimpses of such histories as you roam…
On the traditional lands of the Kaurna people, November’s Minigaine is set across the suburbs of Gawler, Evanston and Willaston.  This event is an excellent chance for families and those new to rogaining to experience our wonderful sport, exploring the many parkways and playgrounds, with some opportunities to gain some elevation too!
We hope you enjoy traversing amongst the many treasures through these townships!
